Mack's 2nd Birthday

I'm sorry about all the Mack birthday posts, what can I say? I love a good party. And I love any excuse to party. this year I found some super cheap, adorable Luau invitations for 10 cents each, thats right, 10 cents! who can pass that up? Obviously not me, because that is what made it a done deal.
Mack's second birthday - Luau extravaganza

We set up our luau in the Huffaker's backyard (my in-laws are way so great, going above and beyond in helping me create my wild ideas)seriously look at the place! Don't feel foolish if you thought we were actually vacationing in Hawaii, it could happen to anyone with these superb decorations deceiving people :)

Here are a few of the attendees. Sorry Darin, Lori, Jacoby, and Jaxon that we didn't get a good picture of you. Also, sorry Pete and May that you aren't in a picture together, and Pete, this picture haunts my nightmares! Ha ha
Did I mention that my mom made a stop here for a few days before she headed to see my sister in Tennessee? She was wonderful to come and help at Mack's party.

I sadly didn't get many pictures of the food... yum, I love food.
But we did serve, beef and chicken kabobs, fruit kabobs, coconut rice, luau rice, Hawaiian rolls, pineapple upside down cake, coconut cupcakes, and fresh smoothies made by the amazing Alana Fox. How cute is that tiki hut. (Once again, thanks Darin and Cody for indulging my wild dreams!!) ((and thanks Alana. I owe you big time!!))

I thought a fishing booth was in order. I'm not the worlds best artist, but I think it turned out pretty good. The 'fish' consisted of candy, stickers, bubbles, sea gummy things, and these really cute totem pole masks that I regrettably didn't get a picture of any of the kids in. Sad.

Mack doesn't love blowing candles out. He likes watching the fire burn. weirdo. (should I be worried) So, Mack's best buddy Houston helped him blow them out. I haven't made/eaten pineapple upside down cake in ages, and it fit the theme so I went with it, along with coconut cupcakes. mmmm.
Mack got a lot of amazing books to help him build his little library. The kid loves to 'read' more than anything. If I let him, he would sit in his crib for hours and look at his books. (again, should I be worried?) ha ha. He also got a little tricycle from my mom... and even though she totally disregarded the 'new or used books' memo, he loved it :)

Thanks again to all who came and luaued with us, and thanks for all the help from my fam. Mack, we love you and are so glad you are a part of our family!

  1. Such an extravagant party!!! You should be a party planner when you grow up! It looks like so much fun. And as a teacher I LOVE that he enjoys books so much.

  6. Wow it looks so much fun! So much fun.....wish we were invited. I guess we are just not cool enough. I thought being cousins was enough, but I guess not. That's cool though, just don't expect an invite to Luau Extravaganza part II for Max's 2nd birthday. You'll wish you were there!! But you won't be.

haha...totally kidding!! I don't have birthday parties for my kids. I'm a bad parent.
